The latest feature of Detective Conan franchise ‘Detective Conan: The Bride of Shibuya’ will be exclusively released in cinemas across Saudi Arabia starting June 9, the Arab animation company Spacetoon Pictures announced.

This will be the twenty-fifth film in the Detective Conan franchise that includes a version in Arabic and features the talents of Amal Saad Aldin (Conan Edogawa) and Taleb Refaei (Furuya Rei) along with a group of the most famous Arab voice actors, who are known for dubbing the Detective Conan anime series since the first time it ran on Spacetoon TV in the early 2000s.

Detective Conan: The Bride of Shibuya was released in Japanese theaters earlier in April, where it successfully took the first spot for the first two weeks of its release and sold more than 2.5 million tickets. 

The movie earned 1% more, in terms of  total earnings, in its first three days than the previous record-holding film in the franchise, Detective Conan: Fist of Blue Sapphire, in its first three days.

The setting of the movie takes place in Shibuya on Halloween. The storyline follows the events that take place during a wedding ceremony occurring at the Shibuya Hikarie building, where Miwako Sato is seen in a wedding dress. Suddenly, an intruder bursts in, and Wataru Takagi is injured protecting Miwako. At the same time, the serial bombing criminal from the incident three years ago that killed Jinpei Matsuda (whom Miwako was in love with) escapes. Rei Furuya, who used to be a classmate of Jinpei’s at the police academy, tracks the culprit down, but a mysterious costumed person appears and attaches a collar bomb to his neck. Conan hears about the incident that happened three years ago from Rei and tries to disarm the collar bomb.

Spacetoon Pictures had previously released the movie in late April 2022 in theaters across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Iraq in original Japanese version with Arabic and English subtitles.
