TOKYO: This Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Shibuya district main crossing, Tokyo’s famous intersection and meeting spot, pedestrians were asked by Arab News Japan to comment on their most important impression in the year of 2022.

Many of them said among the events that marked 2022, the World Cup in Qatar played a big part in raising spirits. A young man dressed in clothing showing the famous Parisian football club PSG (Paris Saint Germain) said he was happy he was able to see several famous players from the Parisian club play in the cup.  He added that this past year he also gave himself a lot of courage at work.

Two women from Hokkaido said that the snow there was extra hard this year but they also enjoyed the World Cup.

A Hong Kong and Japanese couple were happy that the Corona crisis was over, a Taiwanese said that maintaining his health had become more important to him.

Another young man said that being with his friends was the most important event for him and a young woman said that she was satisfied with the past year although she hoped to accomplish some unfinished goals in the coming year.

On this last day of 2022, as people mingled and scrambled in one of the world’s busiest crossings, the ambiance appeared to be one of hope.
