DUBAI: The latest feature of Detective Conan franchise, ‘Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine’ premiered on June 6 in Dubai’s Vox Cinemas at Nakheel Mall.

The premiere was packed with fans who were excited to see the latest adventure of the famous little detective solving cases on the big screen. It was organized by Spacetoon Pictures.

Maha AlMuheiri, an Emirati artist told Arab News Japan her feedback of the movie: “We are getting every year a new movie with amazing story for Detective Conan series and we have grown up with Detective Conan since it was featured on Spacetoon TV in the early 2000’s and we are still watching it and enjoy the events and excitements in the series.”

“Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine movie was outstanding in terms of storytelling, events as well the theme of fighting racism and making the world a better place to live and where the black organization is planning to steal and use the new technology to destroy the world were the main factors that attracted me to the movie where every moment of it was enjoyable and full of excitement.”

“The movie was beyond my expectations and I give it 12 out of 10 for its amazing storytelling, concept and breathtaking moments as well featuring the possibilities of the new technologies of AI and face recognition, which is happening now and it’s becoming a major thing around the world”, she added.

The story of the movie center is set in the sea near the Hachijo-jima island, Tokyo. Engineers from around the world have gathered for the full-scale operation of “Pacific Buoy,” an offshore facility to connect security cameras owned by the worldwide police forces. A certain “new technology” based on a face recognition system is being tested there.

Meanwhile, Conan visits Hachijo-jima with the Detective Boys at Sonoko’s invitation and receives a phone call from Subaru Okiya (FBI agent Shuichi Akai in disguise) informing them that a Europol employee was murdered in Germany by Gin from the Black Organization.

Conan, who is restless, sneaks into the facility and finds that a female engineer has been kidnapped by the Black Organization. Furthermore, a USB drive containing certain information in her possession ends up in the hands of the organization… A black shadow also creeps up on Ai Haibara.

Only a few weeks after its release, the 26th movie generated 10 billion yen in revenue with over 7 million admissions. As a result, this box office hit quickly became one of the highest-grossing films in the franchise’s history.

In advance of its release in cinemas, Spacetoon released the introductory film Ai Haibara Story: Black Iron Mysteries, which introduced the 26th Detective Conan movie to the audience. Both movies are linked to each other, so it serves as a reminder of Haibara’s story and how it led to her current situation. Ai Haibara Story: Black Iron Mysteries was able to effectively illustrate the history behind one of the main characters – Ai Haibara – and her development across the series.

‘Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine’ is available now in movie theatres across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Iraq in original Japanese language with Arabic & English subtitles.
