Netflix is releasing a Japanese live-action movie based on the manga “Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead” on August 3. The streaming service has also just released the official trailer for the highly-anticipated adaptation.

It will be directed by Ishida Yusuke and will star Eiji Akaso, Mai Shiraishi, and Shuntaro Yanagi. The trailer reveals the theme song for the movie titled ‘HoriZOM,’ by Ren.

The movie is based on Aso Haro and Takata Kotaro’s hit comedy-horror manga “Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead”, which debuted in 2018, with a total of 14 volumes so far. Haro is mainly known for his manga ‘Alice in Borderland,’ which was adapted into a Netflix series and is currently in its second season.

The manga follows protagonist Akira Tendo, who hates going to work due to the constant harassment that he faces at an exploitative company. One day, he wakes up to go to work, only to realize that the town has been overtaken by zombies. Overjoyed at the idea of not going to work anymore, he decides to live life to the fullest before turning into a zombie. The series adds a satirical and unique twist to the zombie apocalypse genre.

The manga has also been turned into an anime this year. It has become one of the most beloved anime series this year, despite premiering in early July. The anime is currently streaming on Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll.
