Japan-Algeria Joint Economic Committee Agreement comes into force

TOKYO: The Agreement for the Establishment of the Japan-Algeria Intergovernmental Joint Economic Committee aimed at formulating strategies to strengthen and diversify economic and trade relations between Japan and Algeria came into force on Monday.

The agreement calls for the establishment of an intergovernmental Joint Economic Committee to bring together relevant government agencies and business representatives of both countries for regular consultations to facilitate the economic activities of Japanese companies in Algeria.

The Committee’s objectives also include: promoting investment and industrial partnerships in various fields and supporting Algeria to improve its business climate; providing analysis and periodic evaluation of bilateral economic relations and formulating joint action proposals; discussing ways to promote relations between companies of both countries and to support them, especially in terms of exchanges of expertise and experience; and encouraging companies of both countries, including small and medium-sized enterprises, to develop partnerships.
