TOKYO: The Government of Japan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have decided to launch the negotiations for the Japan-UAE Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko said in a statement today.
Kamikawa expressed hope that “concluding an ambitious, balanced, and comprehensive EPA between Japan and the UAE, in addition to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Japan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) being negotiated in parallel, will contribute to strengthening bilateral economic relations, including the expansion of trade and investment and other areas.”
The Japanese foreign minister reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to broadening cooperative relations in various areas while strengthening wide-ranging economic relations with the UAE.
The UAE President reflected on the agreement on X, saying, “We look forward to strengthening our bilateral ties and exploring new opportunities that support sustainable economic growth for both countries.”
