The UAE-Japan Friendship Committee for Women Career Development (FCW) celebrated a decade of empowering women in the energy field, bringing remarkable talents from the UAE and Japan together to exchange insights over the last 10 years.
Established in 2015 under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, the FCW has fostered initiatives that support women’s careers in industries such as oil and gas, helping more than 4,500 women from the UAE, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other GCC countries, according to Emirates News Agency.
The 20th celebratory forum was held in Tokyo under the theme ‘My leadership Journey for a sustainable society and energy industry’.
Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and FCW Chairwoman, shared during the event that she is grateful for the continued support for the forum, adding that the FCW has not only enhanced bilateral ties between the two countries but also supported women’s career development in the energy sector.
Haruhiko Ando, CEO of the Japan Cooperation Centre for Petroleum (JCCP), echoed her statement, saying, “The world’s intelligence and capabilities should be shared equally between men and women. It can be said that FCW’s stimulating and pioneering activities over the past 10 years have become a powerful driving force for promoting women’s empowerment and have established advanced examples in the oil-related industry.”
CEO of ADNOC Gas Fatema Al Nuaimi also commented on the event, saying, “Over the past 10 years, the FCW has served as an important platform to drive female empowerment in the energy sector. This edition has provided actionable steps to enable female future leaders to better contribute to advancing the energy industry.”
