Beijing: Honda Motor Co. on Saturday unveiled a concept model of its new electric vehicle at the Fifth China International Import Expo, which started in Shanghai the same day.

The eN2: Concept “features sharp and dynamic body lines and surface finishing which highlights the metallic look,” the major Japanese automaker said.

Honda plans to release the new electric vehicle in China in April 2023 or later.

While its cruising range has not been disclosed, a Honda public relations official said, “It can travel a long distance without worry on a single battery charge.”

Honda plans to introduce 10 electric vehicle models in China by 2027. The first of them, an SUV model, was released this spring.

China is the fastest-growing market in the world in terms of promoting vehicle electrification and harnessing smart functions to automobiles, Honda President Toshihiro Mibe said in a video message at the expo.

Honda is determined to compete in the Chinese electrification market also by launching electric motorcycles one after another, he said.
