Arab News Japan

TOKYO: On Sunday, April 7, Japan will host the F1 Grand Prix at the Suzuka Circuit near Nagoya. And, as usual, Saudi oil company Aramco will be heavily involved with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team.

In order to celebrate the Grand Prix — raise the company’s profile, and spice up Tokyo dining — Aramco Asia Japan (AAJ) will be hosting an F1-themed event at the Royal Garden Cafe in the glitzy Tokyo area of Aoyama.

The café is decorated in the team colors of green and blue — which match Aramco’s colors — with Aston Martin Aramco F1 posters, photos, and placemats. It will serve Arabic food for two weeks (March 28 to April 10).

The event aims to boost Aramco’s profile in Japan and its efforts to produce sustainable fuels that contribute to a lower-carbon society.

“We hope people in Tokyo will enjoy Saudi cuisine and get to know us more through this event,” said Abdullah Jastaniah, Representative Director of AAJ.

Saudi Arabia joined the Formula One calendar in 2021, with Jeddah hosting its first race on a street circuit along the Corniche.

This year’s Saudi Arabia Grand Prix on March 10 was won by the Red Bull team who finished 1-2, with Max Verstappen ahead of Sergio Perez. Fernando Alonso had an impressive result in his Aston Martin Aramco car, finishing fifth.
