Renowned British-Japanese visual artist Hana Tajima has garnered attention on social media for her Palestinian and Sudanese themed attire she wore recently to a banquet held at Buckingham Palace.

The state banquet was held for the Emperor and Empress of Japan on their recent visit to the UK.

The artist wore a white dress, with black and green sleeves, along with a red fan that represented the colors of the Palestinian and Sudanese flag.

On Instagram, Hana Tajima explained that it was an “honor to wear the colors of Palestine and Sudan.”

She continued: “It took me a couple of weeks and a lot of hand sewing to make this dress, but with every stitch I thought of what I was representing and what it meant to me. The white and green fabrics are vintage kimono silk.”

Hana Tajima has designed clothing for the Japanese casual wear chain Uniqlo and is known for her modest clothing designs.

Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako started a three-day state visit to Britain on June 26 as King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed them with an array of ceremonies.
