Japan’s Wrestling Gold tally at Paris Olympics rises to record 8

  • Kiyooka and Kagami win wrestling gold on last day

Japan’s medal tally continued to swell at the Paris Olympics with two freestyle wrestling golds after Kotaro Kiyooka and Yuka Kagami won in their respective weight categories.

Kiyooka, 23, triumphed in the men’s 65kg as he beat Iran’s Rahman Amouzadkhalili in the final.

Albania’s Islam Dudaev claimed bronze.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Kagami came out on top in the women’s 76kg, beating USA’s Kennedy Blades, who took silver.
