DUBAI: The world’s largest energy conference and exhibition, the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), hosted a Japanese pavilion from Nov. 4 to 7, where eight Japanese companies offered various solutions regarding climate change issues.

Held under the theme of ‘Connecting Minds. Transforming Energy’, this year’s ADIPEC was the culmination of four decades of energy leadership and gathered a record-breaking 205,139 participants from 172 countries, highlighting the UAE’s convening power and its role as a global hub for energy, technology, and innovation.

The numbers indicate a stronger and more diverse increase in global participation, up by more than 20,000 attendees compared to last year.

Naoharu Takata, the Japan pavilion’s spokesperson, told Arab News Japan that their theme this year was ‘Technologies to Achieve Carbon Neutralities’.

“This year’s Japanese pavilion was organized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. We showed various solutions and technologies from eight Japanese companies, with solutions including hydrogen, carbon recycling, energy efficiency, and more, with the aim of achieving a carbon neutral society by 2050.”

“In particular, we were featuring the Japan-UAE Coordination scheme for Advanced Technology (JU-CAT) that is currently underway between Japan and the UAE. At this year’s ADIPEC, three venture companies participating in JU-CAT are also exhibited their unique and excellent carbon neutral-related technologies. ADIPEC provided us with a great opportunity to introduce the latest technologies from various layers, including venture companies”.

Moreover, the ADIPEC conference program featured four new conferences that welcomed new voices from technology and AI, finance, youth, and the Global South. Across 370 sessions, attendees heard from more than 1,800 international speakers, including 40 ministers, on the economic opportunity that can be realized by collaborating across sectors.

Moreover, one of the highlights of the Japanese pavilion this year’s edition of ADIPEC was the first appearance of the official Expo 2025 mascot (MYAKU-MYAKU) in the UAE at the event.

The edition of ADIPEC was built upon the conference’s rich legacy, uniting the energy sector in its vital mission to decarbonize, continuing to inspire the essential discussions and forging the transformative partnerships that shape a sustainable future for the energy industry in the years to come.
