Studio Ghibli has released new anime plush characters that turn into eco-friendly reusable bags.

Found at retail store Donguri Kyowakoku, the new plushies include two characters from Ghibli’s most popular films; the fox squirrel from the 1986 animated film ‘Lupita: Castle in the Sky,’ and the two supporting characters from the 2001 film ‘Spirited Away.’

The plushies transform into environmentally friendly tote bags by reaching inside the plush characters. The characters will appear as if they are riding on the wearer’s shoulder once the bag is unveiled.

The anime plushies went on sale July 1 in Donguri Kyowakoku around Japan and online. The product retails for 2,800 yen (US$26.04).

The new release comes after Japan’s new law, which requires all retailers to charge customers for single-use plastic bags.
