DUBAI: Maru Udon, a Japanese restaurant based in Dubai, serves genuine Udon noodles with unique flavor for people who want to try the authentic cuisine.
The establishment’s owner Christopher Gunson said that Udon is a very popular, traditional and accessible food in Japan.
“We ordered an Udon production machine from YAMATO manufacturing in Kagawa, Japan. We experimented with them using the right ingredients,” he added.
“Udon is a universal food, it can be done in so many different flavors and style – basic broth, curry, sauces, salads and so on.”
“Also, Udon is inherently halal, unlike Ramen (which is 80-90% made with non-halal ingredients when done authentically),” Gunson said.
The owner said that Maru Udon gained a lot of recognition from residents in the UAE. “We were awarded runner up for Time Out ‘Budget Restaurant of the Year’ in 2021,” Gunson told Arab News Japan.
He said what distinguishes Maru Udon from other Japanese restaurants is the fact that the restaurant serves “genuine Udon.” They also supply fresh noodles to other Japanese restaurants in Dubai.
