Speaking exclusively to Arab News Japan, a representative from Kirakuya explained the concept behind the establishment of the Japanese of the store.

“In December 2020, the entrepreneurs and creative minds behind the new Japanese boutique store, Kirakuya, have worked with a global team spanning the UAE, France and Japan to bring a truly unique retail experience to Dubai,” the representative said.

The “true hero” of the store, according to the representative is it’s flagship product, Kira Tomodachi, an anime-inspired character with a magical story of friendship that will delight children and adults alike.

“At Kirakuya, surprise factor is our secret ingredient. Every season with Kirakuya is unusual, keep your eye peeled and on the lookout for your next snacking adventure and your one-stop boutique store for all the ingredients for creating game-changing Japanese exclusive merchandise,” the representative said.

Food products at the store are imported from Japan and include a variety of authentic, seasonal flavors that are only available for a limited period. In the long run, kirakuya aims to provide a limited range of products that will appeal to both, seniors and millennials, all of which are exclusive to the store.  

“We have a partnership with more than 600 factories in Japan to provide poeple with latest, seasonal snacks and exclusive products, that means you’ll try the latest in Japanese trends every season,” the representative said.

Regarding Kirakuya’s upcoming plans in the near future, the representative said that  “From product development, to store fit out and design the owners have been closely involved in every aspect of developing Kirakuya and Kira Tomodochi. They are determined to ensure a customer experience that transmits as much as possible the joy and fun of Japanese culture as well as the adventure and magic behind Kira Tomodachi.”

“Working with some of Japan’s best animation studios, Kirakuya’s owners will develop the origin story of Kira Tomodachi into a series of stories that will connect with the hearts and minds of children and their parents, and continue developing new characters that will be the friends of Kira, so each child can have their own, unique and special friend,” the representative added.

The representative also provided several recommendations for those willing to shop at the store and try authentic Japanese products.

“By bringing Kirakuya to children across the world, the young entrepreneurs behind this exciting new brand hope that families can share with their children the joy and magic of both Kira and Japan, starting with a unique and special visit to a converted shipping container in the heart of Dubai,” the representative said.
