DUBAI: Japanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia IWAI Fumio is taking his followers through every step of his journey in the Kingdom’s UNESCO World Heritage site, AlUla.

On Monday, Iwai tweeted explaining that after the conclusion of a series of events celebrating Japan, including the Emperor’s Birthday, he will be touring different regions in Saudi Arabia. He added that he hoped to see his friends wherever he goes.

Later that day, the ambassador posted that he had arrived at the site safely, preparing to show his followers what he will be up to during his time there.

On Tuesday morning, Iwai posed for a picture in front of the scenery at AlUla, describing the fresh and crisp air, claiming he had woken up early just to catch a whiff of it. The Japanese ambassador said in a tweet that the weather was colder than he had anticipated.

He went on to explain that he visited Al Hajar, which is a municipality and village in AlUla. He also visited the site’s Dadan area, the ancient Kingdom of the Lihyanite and Dadanite civilizations. Afterwards, he saw Jabal Ikmah, a mountain near to the ancient city of Dadan.

Iwai said he enjoyed learning more about the Arabian Peninsula’s ancient history.

The ambassador made sure to include his wife, Mrs. Iwai, in his photo series, tweeting that she was also enjoying her first day touring the heritage site.

Iwai is greatly popular on Twitter, with many of his followers joyful he tweets in Arabic and is very involved in Saudi Arabia’s culture.
