Arab News Japan

DUBAI: The Japanese Gulf Cup 2023 recently took place in Dubai on Feb. 3 with the Singapore Swans taking the prize home.

Thailand’s Good Morning Bangkok took second place, while the Dubai Blue Falcons won third. Saudi Arabia’s Samurai Riyadh placed fourth.

The top scorer was Hashimoto from Thailand’s team with all his goals winning over the crowds.

Arab News Japan gave the winning team a bisht, inspired by Lionel Messi’s recent Argentinian win at the Qatar World Cup 2022.

In the UAE, there were seven teams competing: two from the Dubai, one from Abu Dhabi, two from Saudi Arabia, one joint team with Bahrain, one from Singapore and one from Thailand.

Here were the full results:

  • First place: Singapore Swans
  • Second place: Good Morning Bangkok
  • Third place: Dubai Blue Falcons
  • Fourth place: Samurai Riyadh
  • Fifth place: Dubai Blue Oceans
  • Sixth place: Abu Dhabi Gazelles
  • Seventh place: Causeway VerdeRosso

Japan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia IWAI Fumio tweeted on the occasion, congratulating the Riyadh-based team on their participation.

He said: “Congratulations to our team, Samurai Riyadh, for being ranked fourth in the Japanese Gulf Football Cup, which was held in Dubai last week. Hopefully, they have better luck in the next league.”
