UAE-Japan Cultural Center takes part in Sharjah book fair

SHARJAH: The UAE-Japan Cultural Center participated at Sharjah’s Used Book Fair as part of the partnership with Sharjah Art For All Center. The Art Center is an artistic skill learning center for challenged people with different disabilities.

The 8th edition of the Sharjah Used Book Fair was held at Al Nakheel Park from Feb. 1-4 and featured books in different categories sold for reachable prices to inspire everyone to read.

Naoko Kishida, founder and director of the UAE-Japan culture told Arab News Japan the center’s participation introduced activities such as: origami (paper-holding), Japanese calligraphy and Yoyo fishing, which is a bubble ball floating on the water.

“Many people enjoyed our activities as well the event overall and we are looking forward to participate in it again,” she said.

Regarding UAE-Japan Cultural Center upcoming activities, Kishida said: “We are planning an Iftar gathering for Japanese people during Ramadan, where it features a small lecture of the meaning of the holy month for Muslims and rituals that they usually do during Ramadan.”

The center is a non-profit organization that was established on the purpose of building a mutually beneficial relationship between UAE communities and Japanese residents.

The center continuously hosts Japanese language courses & community activities.
