TOKYO: Japan expressed hope that Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid’s visit to the UAE for the first time after the establishment of a new Bennett government will ease tensions and boost stability in the Middle East, Foreign Minister MOTEGI Toshimitsu said at a press conference Tuesday.

Motegi added that Japan was also paying close attention to the impact of the recent US airstrikes on pro-Iran forces in Iraq and Syria border region.

“Japan has built friendly relations with the Middle East countries for many years, and we hope to continue our diplomatic efforts in close cooperation with the countries concerned for peace and stability in the Middle East while utilizing our relations with them.”
