Iran Foreign Minister tells Japan PM he wants nuclear deal reactivated

TOKYO: Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Islamic Republic of Iran, paid a courtesy call on Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio on Monday and told him that Iran is seeking to revive the Iran nuclear agreement.

Amir Abdollahian stated that Iran hopes negotiations will revive the nuclear deal and said he was grateful for Japan’s diplomatic efforts. He added that he would like to further deepen cooperation between Japan and Iran, which has a long history.

Kishida welcomed the Foreign Minister but stated that Japan, as a supporter of the Iran nuclear deal, is seriously concerned about the expansion of Iran’s nuclear-related activities. He requested full and unconditional cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
