CAIRO: Japan’s Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa held bilateral talks with Dr. Riad Malki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine in Cairo on Sept. 5.
Following the Japan-Arab Political Dialogue, Hayashi participated in a banquet dinner and met with Malki to discuss Middle East Peace initiative.
At the outset, Hayashi expressed his pleasure at meeting with Malki for the first time. He referred to State Minister for Foreign Affairs YAMADA Kenji’s visit to Palestine and said Japan shares with Palestine the importance of realizing Middle East Peace based on a “two-state solution.”
He also stated that Japan will continue to support Palestine and its refugees through its own initiatives such as the “Corridor for Peace and Prosperity.”
In response, Malki referred to the increasingly active bilateral visits from Japan to Palestine including the recent one by NISHIMURA Yasutoshi, Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry, and stated that Japan’s efforts toward the Middle East Peace such as the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park are policies based on excellent visions.
He expressed his deep gratitude to the various assistance provided by Japan.
