TOKYO: Nakajima Yoichi, Japan’s Ambassador for Palestinian relations, and Samer Abdeliaber, the Country Director of the United Nations World Food Program in Palestine, signed a letter for 200 million yen in grant aid for Palestine on Tuesday.

The aid will provide food assistance with the aim of improving Palestinian food security and contributing to the resolution of development issues in response to requests from the Palestnian Authority.

In Palestine, food conditions are deteriorating due to high employment, worsening economic and financial conditions, and soaring international food prices as a result of the Ukraine crisis.

At the G7 Hiroshima Summit held in May this year, Japan announced that it would continue to provide food and nutrition-related assistance to vulnerable countries and regions affected by the food security crisis.

It is also contribute to the realization of “stability” and improvement of people’s livelihoods based on human security,” which is one of the pillars of its support for Palestine.
