CAIRO: Japan’s Foreign Minister Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa held a meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Mr. Nasser Bourita, where he welcomed the serious and credible efforts of the Moroccan government towards finding a solution for the Western Sahara issue.
On September 5, the two foreign ministers met at the League of Arab States in Cairo and discussed ways to develop the relationship between the two countries. Both ministers expressed their willingness to deepen their cooperation in various fields, such as trade, investment, and political dialogue.
When discussing the Western Sahara issue, Japan expressed its support for Morocco’s efforts to resolve the issue, highlighting the 2007 autonomy plan as an example. The Japanese ministry describe the measures taken by Morocco as “serious and credible.”
Moreover, Bourita stated that he trusts the measures taken by Japan when it comes to discharging the Fukushima water into the sea.
