DUBAI: HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Japan’s foreign minister, met with his Bahraini counterpart, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, as part of his visit to Saudi Arabia to participate in meetings including the Japan-GCC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Sept 7.

Both ministers acknowledged the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations last year and stated that the bilateral relations between Japan and Bahrain have developed in a wide range of fields under the comprehensive partnership.

Zayani stated that the two countries have maintained friendly relationships and encouraged continued enhancement and cooperation to further strengthen bilateral relations.

HAYASHI expressed his pleasure that the Japan-Bahrain Investment Agreement signed last year entered into force on Sept 6, and both agreed to secure free and stable business activities to promote and solidify economic and business ties between the two countries.

They exchanged views on various topics such as, the recent discharge of ALPS-treated water, which Zayani stated his confidence in Japan to abide by international standards, and regarding international situations including Israel and Palestine, both ministers concurred to continue close cooperation.
