TOKYO: Kuwait confirmed on Tuesday that it would officially take part in Expo Osaka 2025 and signed a contract for the design and construction of a Kuwait Pavilion.

Salem Al-Watyan, the Commissioner-General for the Kuwait Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 and the Assistant Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Information for Administrative and Financial Affairs, announced the signing of a contract for the design and construction of the Kuwait Pavilion with Nussli Group Construction Company, Ltd.

The contract was signed at the Kuwaiti embassy in Tokyo. Ambassador to Japan Sami Al-Zamanan attended the signing ceremony.

Al-Watyan confirmed that the State of Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Information and other relevant governmental entities, has completed all administrative, technical, and financial procedures related to Kuwait’s participation in Expo Osaka 2025.

In a press release, he stated: “Kuwait’s participation in the exhibition, themed ‘Building the future society for our lives’, aims to showcase the State of Kuwait’s bright image, and its commitment to nurturing Kuwaiti youth, creating a better future for them, developing human capital, and achieving sustainable development goals.”

“The International exposition is a global cultural gathering rich with diverse ideas, activities and innovations that showcases the world’s diverse traditions and cultures. It presents a valuable opportunity for promoting and marketing economic and political projects, in addition to the historical legacies of all participating countries.”

Al-Watyan pointed out that Kuwait’s participation in Expo Osaka 2025 is a continuation of a rich history of Kuwaiti youth contributions and creative efforts in various fields, noting that Kuwait also participated in the 1970 Osaka Expo.

“Kuwait is one of the few countries that had the opportunity to participate in this exhibition at the 1970 Osaka Expo, and it was one of only four Arab participants. This underscores the uniqueness and diversity of Kuwait’s participation, which always focuses on highlighting Kuwait’s social traditions and shedding light on the country’s scientific, cultural and educational aspects.”

He emphasized that Kuwait’s participation reflects the strong fraternal relations enjoyed between Kuwait and Japan at all levels: “The State of Kuwait, under the guidance of its political leadership, is keen to participate at this international forum, due to its great importance in solidifying Kuwait’s contributions in various fields and at all levels, and to showcase the State of Kuwait in a manner befitting its distinguished strategic plans, the latest of which is ‘New Kuwait 2035’.”
