Tokyo: Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa and her U.S. and South Korean counterparts Saturday confirmed the three countries’ continued cooperation in countering threats from North Korea’s nuclear and missile development.

The confirmation came during a call among Kamikawa, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin after North Korea launched a military reconnaissance satellite Tuesday.

The three ministers shared the view that any launch by North Korea using ballistic missile technology, even if it is designed to launch a satellite, violates U.N. Security Council resolutions, according to Kamikawa, who spoke to reporters after the talks.

Kamikawa said that the ministers also shared the view that North Korea’s ballistic missile launches pose a grave threat to regional security and a serious challenge to the international community.

The ministers reaffirmed continued security cooperation among Japan, the United States and South Korea. They also discussed the conflict in Gaza.
