Washington: Julie Turner, the U.S. special envoy on North Korean human rights issues, will visit Japan and South Korea Monday through Feb. 22, the State Department said Friday.
During her visit, Turner will meet with Japanese and South Korean government officials, civil society activists and North Korean defectors, the department said.
In Japan, Turner will emphasize the need for an immediate resolution to North Korea’s abductions of Japanese nationals, the department said.
Turner’s trip will “underscore the U.S. commitment to promoting human rights in North Korea,” the department said in a statement.
