TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio held a summit meeting with his Jordanian counterpart Bisher Hani Al-Khasawneh in Tokyo on Friday, as well as a working dinner during which he expressed his serious concern about the critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the further destabilization of the situation in the region.
Kishida stated that Japan has been making diplomatic efforts, including in the Security Council, to improve the humanitarian situation and reduce tensions in the region.
In response, Prime Minister Khasawneh explained Jordan’s efforts in the Gaza Strip and appreciated Japan’s assistance.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the situations in China, North Korea, Russia, and Ukraine.
Kishida expressed his appreciation for the message of sympathy from Jordan following the damage caused by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on New Year’s Day.
Prime Minister Khasawneh explained Jordan’s efforts to modernize its economy and finances and expressed appreciation for Japan’s consistent support for Jordan. Kishida stated that Japan will continue to support Jordan’s efforts. The two leaders also welcomed progress regarding bilateral cooperation on the security front,
Khasawneh said he hoped to further strengthen relations between the two countries, seizing the opportunity of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
