TOKYO: OKADA Katsuya, the Secretary General of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, condemned Hamas “for its unforgivable terrorist attack on Israel” but declined to condemn Israeli occupation forces for killing over 30,000 civilians in Gaza.

In a press conference on Tuesday at the CDP headquarters, it was pointed out to Okada that the Israeli genocide against Palestinians in Gaza continues – with the number of murdered reaching 30,000 – and the KISHIDA Fumio government had failed to condemn Israel while repeating its condemnation of Hamas.

Okada was asked if his party would condemn Israel.

The leader of the biggest opposition party in Japan replied by saying, “We also criticize Hamas. What Hamas did cannot be forgiven. However, it is a different matter for the ordinary people living in Gaza, and the current inhuman starvation. Attacks on ordinary citizens are not acceptable. That is the basic stance of the party.”
