TOKYO: A slightly strong earthquake with the magnitude of 4.6 shook the prefectures near Tokyo after the midnight of Saturday.
The earthquake, struck at 00:50 on Sunday morning, had a seismic intensity of 3 on the Japanese scale with the epicenter at the depth of 70 kilometers under Southern Ibaraki Prefecture to the northeast of Tokyo, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The shaking was felt in Saitama, Tochigi, Gunma, Yamanashi, Shizuoka, Chiba, and Fukushima Prefectures.
Buildings swayed in Tokyo at a relatively fast beat but there was no danger of a tsunami and no early reports of damage.
Four small earthquakes also occurred in various parts of Japan on Saturday, the agency said.
