TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio will visit the US capital Washington from Wednesday to attend the NATO Summit, after which he will visit Germany for a Summit Meeting and other meetings from July 12 to 14.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of NATO and Prime Minister Kishida will attend the NATO Summit to reaffirm with Japan’s allies that the security of the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions are inseparable, and to commit to further enhancement of Japan-NATO cooperation.
Kishida will also visit Germany, an important partner for Japan in Europe, with the Japan-Germany Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA) having been approved by Japan’s parliament.
Japan is looking to further enhance cooperation with Germany against a backdrop of increasingly active bilateral exchanges and cooperation, including in security areas, and in the context of coordination among like-minded countries assuming greater importance amid the current severe international situation.
Japan hopes Kishida’s visit to the United States and Germany will reaffirm the importance of upholding a free and open international order based on the rule of law.
