TOKYO: Japanese Foreign Minister IWAYA Takeshi says Japan would like to further strengthen cooperation in various fields with the United Arab Emirates under the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI)” between Japan and the UAE.

Japan’s Foreign Ministry said that Iwaya held a telephone talk with Sultan Al Jaber, the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to Japan, on Monday.

Minister Jaber expressed his hope bilateral relations with Japan would be strengthened through the CSPI agreement.

The two ministers agreed to continue cooperation to realize a high-level Economic Partnership Agreement. The first round of negotiations for the Japan-UAE EPA was held in Tokyo in November.
