TOKYO: Tunisia is making an impression at the Osaka-Kansai Expo with its pavilion, with its theme of “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”
The concept of the pavilion is built around three core components: the optimal management and use of water resources, food heritage and local products for better health, and progress in science and medicine.
Tunisia National Day will be celebrated on August 13 and will focus on honoring Tunisian women by highlighting their contributions across various sectors and showcasing national heritage.
The Tunisian Pavilion showcases Tunisia’s cultural, civilizational, and traditional heritage through an exhibition of traditional and artistic artifacts that reflect the country’s cultural identity.
Artisans from El Jem, Djerba, Gafsa, Le Kef, and Nabeul will participate at the Expo, presenting works such as artistic paintings arranged as a mosaic to portray the “Al-Chraff” olive tree, which is considered one of the oldest olive trees in El Alâa and dates back approximately 2,500 years.
The pavilion also features hand-painted ceramic tiles from Nabeul, bedding textiles and olive wood used in the creation of sustainable materials and traditional industries.
The pavilion’s façade is said to blend the purity of jasmine – a symbol of untainted hospitality – with the power of an authentic mosaic. This artistic composition rests on a scarlet red base, a fusion of Tunisian and Japanese colors.
