MAGOSHI Masayuki, Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, attended the inauguration ceremony for the construction of a sewage treatment facility at Lebanon’s Haykel Hospital, which is supported by Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program.
Sewage treatment systems are not well developed in Lebanon. Existing public ones are barely functioning due to the unprecedented economic crisis since 2019.
The Japanese ambassador stressed the importance of strengthening Lebanon’s healthcare infrastructure and environmental health, adding that the sewage treatment facility would contribute greatly to the prevention of infectious diseases in North Lebanon.
He reaffirmed Japan’s continued support towards helping Lebanon in the environmental sector.
Nisrine Bazarbachi, CEO of Haykel Hospital, expressed gratitude towards Japan’s support, highlighting the impact the sewage project will have on both public health and the well-being of the surrounding community.
Established in 1969, Haykel Hospital offers quality and affordable medical care for its residents.
