The quake epicenter was 70 kilometers deep in the crust under northwest of Chiba prefecture and partly Ibaraki prefecture according to Japan’s meteorological agency who estimated the magnitude to be at 5 Shindo on the Japanese scale, Shindo, that is composed of 7.
The scale was 4 Shindo in Chiba and from 4 to 1 in the surrounding prefectures, the agency said.
Tokyo was shaken at 3 Shindo according to the agency. Eye-witnesses told Arab News Japan that mobile phones, again, sounded the alarm suddenly at 1:57 for few seconds followed by a strong shaking. Residents of Ibaraki, Shizuka, Fukushima, Miyagi, and Saitama also received the warning.
The agency said there are no worries about the tsunami caused by this earthquake.
No reported damage after one hour of the quake in those prefectures but authorities asked people to stay alert.
