The popular Shibuya Scramble Square in Tokyo became the site of a screaming match between two groups of demonstrators on Sunday.
One of the groups was protesting police brutality in the US in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. They took to the streets calling for "no peace without justice."
Meanwhile speakers on the roof of a parked truck, denounced the demonstrators and accused them of spreading coronavirus and falsifying history against Japan. One of the speakers also attacked China as the source of the virus.
The protesters on the truck were surround by angry protesters from the first group, who accused them of promoting racism.
The police remained neutral as usual, separating the two sides and trying to uphold the rules and code of conduct in yet another Sunday of peaceful demonstrations in Tokyo.
