TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe suggested July 16 that the government will consider measures to support doctoral students’ daily lives.
“It’s an urgent task to create an environment that allows young people to venture into research careers with dreams and hopes,” Abe told a meeting of the government’s Council for Science, Technology and Innovation.
In January, the government drew up a comprehensive policy package to strengthen research capacity and support young researchers. In the package, the government pointed out that the attractiveness of research jobs is falling.
