TOKYO: It was revealed on Tuesday that a male police officer (SP) of the Metropolitan Police Department in charge of Defense Minister KONO Taro was infected with the new coronavirus.
Mr. Kono confirmed a negative PCR test on the same day. It is said that Kono will continue to carry out his public affairs’ responsibilities as usual after July 29, the Ministry of Defense officials said.
According to the Ministry, the police officer, after leaving the office on the morning of July 28, tested positive after symptoms such as fever of over 38 degrees and taste disorder were observed.
He said Kono always wore a mask during work.
