Japanese Defence Minister KONO Taro will become minister of internal affairs in the new cabinet while lawmaker Nobuo Kishi, the brother of outgoing Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, will take over the defence portfolio from Kono, Kyodo News reported on Tuesday.

Yoshihide Suga, the new leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, is set to be formally elected as prime minister on Wednesday, when he will also announce his new cabinet.
