TOKYO: Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga pledged Wednesday that Japan will help developing countries, including those in Africa, boost vaccinations against the new coronavirus.
Like many other countries across the globe, Africa has been greatly affected by the spread of the virus, Suga said in a video message to a summit meeting on financing African economies, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Tuesday local time.
“With a view to achieving Universal Health Coverage based on the principle of human security, Japan will promote its ‘Last One Mile Support’ initiative, which helps Africa and other developing countries in building vaccine delivery and inoculation systems,” Suga said.
