TOKYO: The Japanese government strongly condemned the suicide attack that occurred in Sadr City inside Baghdad, on July 19, and expressed its strong solidarity with the government and the people of Iraq.
“Japan expresses its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families for the loss of their loved ones and prays for the swift recovery of those who were injured,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The government of Japan will continue to make utmost efforts for peace and stability in Iraq, the statement said.
A suicide bomber killed at least 35 people and wounded dozens in a crowded market in the Sadr City neighbourhood of Baghdad on Monday, the eve of the Eid al-Adha festival.
