TOKYO: Japan condemned “in the strongest possible terms” the terrorist attack in a mosque in Kunduz, northeastern Afghanistan, that caused many civilian deaths and casualties.

“We express our heartfelt condolences to the victims and the bereaved families and pray for the swift recovery of injured ones,” YOSHIDA Tomoyuki, the press secretary of the Japanese foreign ministry, said in an official statement.

In close collaboration with the international community, Japan will continue making efforts to contribute towards realizing peace and stability in Afghanistan, Yoshida said.
