TOKYO: TAKAICHI Sanae, the former candidate for prime minister who ran against KISHIDA Fumio, has offered her support to election candidate Kyoshi Odawara, deputy foreign minister of the Kishida cabinet in Tachikawa, Tokyo.
In her pep talk, the former Minister of Interior Affairs and Communications under Shinzo Abe referred to the North Korean ballistic missile firing from a submarine on October 20 and the need to protect Japan and its citizens.
The candidate for the House of Representatives for Tokyo’s 21st district, Odawara is also known for his conservative and militarist positions.
He said in 2017 that he was in favor of Japan being able to acquire nuclear weapons and he is also in favor of nuclear power, but during this election rally he insisted on measures to protect the lives of citizens suffering from the pandemic.
