TOKYO: Jota Yamamoto has been appointed by the Japanese government as its new ambassador to Oman, effective on December 2.
Yamamoto, 61, joined the Foreign Ministry in 1982 and worked at Japan’s Embassy in Pakistan and the consulate general in Houston, Texas, before becoming ambassador to Finland in March 2016.
Other new appointments included Akira Sugiyama, who has been appointed Ambassador in charge of International Cooperation for Countering Terrorism and International Organized Crime.
