TOKYO: An earthquake observing a maximum seismic intensity of 4 hit Ibaraki and Tochigi prefectures at around 1:58 on Thursday, December 2, local time, the Metrological Agency said.
The quake shook Tokyo central districts with 3 Shindo on the Japanese Shindo scale of 7 degrees.
The earthquake epicenter was in the southern part of Ibaraki prefecture, about 60km underground and at a seismic intensity of 5.
The agency said there is no need to worry about the tsunami coming from the Pacific Ocean caused by this earthquake.
A series of weak earthquakes have been registered recently, including one with a seismic intensity of 2 in Tokyo, where people in the building in the central district of Minato observed some light swaying.
