TOKYO: The cooperative relationship between Japan and Jordan is steadily progressing based on the strategic partnership, and Tokyo will extend a fresh ¥11.4 billion yen (USD $100 million) aid to Jordan, Hayashi Yoshimasa, Japanese foreign minister told his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi during a video conference they held on Dec. 23.
In the talks, Hayashi expressed his hope to strengthen the relationship for further development, and reaffirmed Japan’s support for a two-state solution regarding the Middle East Peace.
In response, minister Safadi appreciated Japan’s position and contribution regarding the Middle East Peace, the foreign ministry in Tokyo said.
The Ministers exchanged views on the bilateral relationship including economic cooperation, and minister Hayashi informed that Japan decided to provide Jordan with up to approximately ¥11.4 billion yen as the COVID-19 Crisis Response Emergency Support Loan, and with additional contribution through international organizations to support a large number of refugees hosted by Jordan. In response, minister Safadi expressed his appreciation for Japan’s wide-ranging cooperation for Jordan.
The Ministers confirmed to work together for the 10th NPT Review Conference to be held in New York in January 2022, and concurred that the two countries will continue the close cooperation with a view to further enhancing the bilateral relationship and stabilizing the region.
