TOKYO: Japan condemned the attack on the UAE-flagged vessel off the coast of Yemen was captured by the Yemen-based Houthis and urged the safe release of the captured vessel, and of its crew.
The attack was launched on Sunday, Jan. 2.
“Japan is deeply concerned by the occurrence of the incident which impedes the free navigation of ships amid the continued high tensions in the Middle East,” the foreign ministry said in a statement on Jan. 11.
The Japanese government stressed that peace and stability in the Middle East is extremely important for Japan and the international community.
“Japan will continue its diplomatic efforts toward easing tensions and stabilizing the situation in this region, the ministry said.
