Defense Minister Taro Kono said at a press conference on the 6th of December that Iran had no negative reaction to the SDF dispatched by the government to ensure the safety of the Middle East Sea Lane. He Recognized that he had gained understanding.
Mr. Kono explained the status of the study of the dispatch, “I explain it transparently to Iran. I have been carrying out various exchanges, including telephone conferences with the minister in charge.” He didn't reveal the details of the time of the telephone conference or the exchanges.
The government is continuing its diplomatic efforts to alleviate tensions in the Middle East in parallel with considering the dispatch of the Self-Defense Forces to that region. Late this month, Iran's President Rouhani visits Japan to make arrangements to meet with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
