Japan said Tuesday it will extend emergency aid of $14 million in response to the humanitarian crisis in North-eastern Syria.
The Foreign Ministry said that it will coordinate with four international organizations to provide health, shelter, blankets and tents in the areas of WASH.
With this assistance, Japan hopes to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for approximately 524,000 returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and children.
The ministry has assured that an estimated 104,000 people will receive life-saving shelters and core relief items (CRIs) such as blankets, sleeping mats, jerry cans and solar lamps.
Winter clothes and waterproof floor covering will also be given in order to reduce vulnerabilities.
Moreover, around 535,000 people will receive health and medical services.
Japan will continue to work closely with the international community toward the settlement of Syrian crisis through improving the humanitarian situation in Syria and advancing the UN-facilitated political process.
