TOKYO: Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi on Friday condemned an attack by Russian troops on a nuclear power plant in Ukraine.

“We strongly condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, including an attack on a nuclear facility,” Hayashi told a parliamentary meeting.

He urged Russia to halt its military attacks immediately, while saying Japan will respond appropriately to the situation through cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
